Description: The trick with middle- and three-finger pick grips is that they're not just grips. And you can't just switch to them without also changing your arm position and picking motion. But this is also why this form is a valuable learning tool. When the arm is "supinated", or rotated, the wrist no longer moves strictly side to side from thumb to pinky, even if might look that way from a distance. Up close you can see that its motion looks more like the knocking or tapping motion of wrist flexion and extension. The grip is just there to allow the pick to reach the strings with this new arm position. This change gives you the opportunity to learn a new technique with less interference from techniques you may already know. And this may enable you to figure out problematic lines because everything is just a little bit "new" again. Don't worry about losing your current technique. There is no "unlearning", only additional learning. Give it a shot!
